CALL FOR APPLICATIONS AND NOMINATIONS FOR ANNUAL HISTORY DEPARTMENT AWARDS: UNDERGRADUATE
All materials should be submitted by end of the day on Wednesday, February 29, 2012
Application materials may be submitted:

Undergraduate Awards for History Majors
Edward L. And Aileen O. Jennings Scholarship
$1000 annually, payable at $500 per semester; student may re-apply for a second year.
Minimum requirements:
1. 15 hours of history completed at time of application
2. minimum 2.7 GPA
3. full-time student
4. must demonstrate financial need
Please submit:
1. letter of recommendation/nomination from a history department faculty member (faculty should submit letters of recommendation directly to the committee)
2. letter of application from the student explaining his/her financial need
Ernest Hooper History Scholarship
Minimum requirements:
1. must be nominated by history faculty
2. 60 hours of coursework with 12 hours in history completed at the time of application
full-time student
3. Minimum 3.0 GPA
Please submit:
1. a letter of nomination/recommendation from a history faculty member (faculty should submit letters of recommendation directly to the committee)
2. a statement from the student about the importance of history and his/her reasons for majoring in history
Tennessee Historical Commission Certificate of Merit (non-monetary)
Please submit:
Evidence of outstanding contribution to Tennessee history
